As more Japanese companies explore opportunities to go public in the U.S., the journey from the initial public offering (IPO) to maintaining a listing has proven to be both rewarding and challenging. Why Attend?
Since the listing of MEDIROM on Nasdaq in December 2020, there has been a significant increase in the number of Japanese companies looking to list on U.S. markets. From December 2020 to the end of 2023, 10 Japanese micro-cap companies, including MEDIROM, successfully listed on U.S. exchanges. While many celebrated the milestone of going public, the challenges of maintaining these listings have become increasingly apparent.
This session will cover critical insights into the realities faced by companies post-listing, including:
- The Advantages vs. Disadvantages of Listing on U.S. Markets: Understanding both the opportunities and risks involved.
- Lessons from Companies Struggling to Maintain Listings: Real-life examples of companies that have faced difficulties, and what others can learn from their experiences.
- What Future IPO Aspirants Should Know: For companies planning to list on U.S. exchanges, this session will provide essential guidance to navigate the often unpredictable landscape of U.S. regulatory requirements, market expectations, and financial pressures.
Special Guest from Nasdaq
The session will feature Morimasa Ueda, Audit Partner at TAAD LLP. With previous roles at Ernst & Young LLP in New York and SingerLewak LLP, Morimasa Ueda brings extensive expertise in conducting PCAOB audits under U.S. GAAP. Additionally, a Nasdaq representative in Japan will offer critical insights on what Japanese companies should consider before going public in the U.S., and how to achieve long-term success post-IPO. This session is essential for companies aiming to expand their global footprint through an IPO.
